About us

Welcome to Sidney Stringer Academy

We hope you will find all the information you need about our school on these pages.

Sidney Stringer Academy caters for 1250 students aged 11-19 including a large sixth form. The Academy opened in September 2010 and is sponsored by Coventry University, City College, Jaguar Landrover and  Coventry City Council.

Our ambition is to create a vibrant, happy and successful academy which delivers the very highest standards of education and nurtures each student’s talents and skills and plays a central role in meeting the needs of our local community.

All the evidence we have points to the fact that our students make significantly more academic progress in their time with us than could reasonably be expected of them. Our results are amongst the very best in the country in terms of the progress that students make and we are proud of our students and their achievement.

We also have a high quality learning environment with a  fabulous new building which is due to be finally completed in the Spring of 2012.

This is an exciting time to be a student or member of staff at Sidney Stringer. If you want to find out more please come and visit us and see for yourself, you are most welcome.

Student Places

There are 1,350 places including a new sixth-form offering 300 places. The Academy is an all-inclusive school, welcoming students from all backgrounds, of all faiths or none, and of all abilities, operating under Coventry City Council’s Admissions policy.

The Academy

In September 2010 Sidney Stringer School became an Academy. Academies are free, government-funded, local schools that provide a first-class education for young people of all abilities. They are established by sponsors working with partners from the local community. In this case, the sponsors are Coventry City Council, City College, Coventry University and Jaguar Land Rover Cars.

Building on Sidney Stringer’s reputation for innovation and success, and its commitment to meeting the needs of its diverse student population, the Academy offers a fresh approach to learning, a flexible and rich curriculum, investment in the latest ICT equipment and learning support systems, and state-of-the art facilities in new buildings, to help raise standards of achievement among all students.

In June 2011 we moved into our new state of the Art 28 million pound building.
