Academy foundations in place
With over 50 men working on the site every day, the new Sidney Stringer Academy building is progressing well. The builders have completed the foundation of the top and bottom sections of the site (using 400m³ of concrete – that’s equivalent to the size of four double-decker buses) and they will start on the middle-section foundations in mid February, with the hope of completing this in around five weeks. Already 4300m³ of earth has been moved off the site – enough to fill Coventry swimming pool five times over!
All the underground drainage and services are being installed, and the team is preparing to cast the first concrete slabs next week. To help with the construction, a 35m-high tower crane has been erected which it can lift 2,500kg!
Hi-Con Stairs Time Lapse
Watch a time lapse video of the first of two Hi-Con stairs being constructed. The construction takes place over several days and the stairs are put together in several pieces.
Weekly Time Lapse Movie
Time Lapse capture is run daily between 7am and 7pm, 5 days a week. One image is captured approximately every 1 minute, resulting in approximately 720 images a day. The images are then played back at 25 frames per second (fps), resulting in 60 hours worth of construction work being squeezed down to just over 2 minutes!
The video consists of 3502 still images taken over 5 days. Capture began at 07:00 on 09/08/2010, and stopped at 18:59 on 13/08/2010. The final video for this week runs at 25 fps, clocking in at 2 mins 20 secs
