Our Families Our Futures: Keeping safer in the community

Dozens of local organisations joined our Sixth Form boys as part of a recent safety awareness event.

Sidney Stringer Academy hosted the event titled ‘Our Families, Our Future’ when 16 to 18 year old boys from the school talked about safeguarding issues including drugs, guns, gangs, radicalisation and keeping safe online. The event included talks from Mr Jason Farmer, Mr Chris Hardy and Dr Manny Barot these were all very powerful and engaging.

The event also included lots of stalls setup a range of different agencies and organisations from the local community. Overall it was a real success and we hope to run many more events like this in the future.

Agencies involved in the event included Sky Blues in the Community, Cameron Grant Memorial Trust, Compass, Kikit, West Midlands Fire Service, Relate, Princes Trust, Hillfields Youth Centre, Say No To Drugs, Valley House, Coventry Recovery Partnership, United Nations Association, CRASAC, Refuge, Refuge, Barnardos, CW Recovery, Wasps, Samaritans, O2 / NSPCC, City College, Whitefriars, Mind, MGTS, O2, Street Aware, Coventry University.
