Sports Hall Progress 2012
04/01/2012

Building work continues as Sidney Stringer Academy, with the new Sports Hall taking shape. In the picture you can see the main frame has been erected, based on a super structure of steel girders. They are enclosed by breeze blocks and high grade insultation walls, making the interior warm with minimal heating in all weathers.

In fact, the whole academy works as an inter seasonal heat store. This means it is like a giant, year round storage heater. The inside is so well insulated that it retains the heat from the summer months, which has been absorbed in the giant croncrete building. This radiates out in the winter, reducing energy useage and making the Academy one of the most energy efficient and green friendly buildings in the city.

The muddy building site will soon be transformed into tennis courts and large open, green spaces for the summer months.
