It was another fantastic day for some of our Year 11 students as many received confirmation of their place on the National Citizen Service scheme this summer. The scheme, involving participating in a residential scheme as well as independent living in university accommodation and the opportunity to design their own charity action campaign, aims to equip students with the necessary skills to meet the employability demands of the 21st century, as well as develop their skills of leadership and independence.

Mehnaz Bahar was delighted to have been accepted on the course. 'I cant wait for the scheme to begin' she exclaimed. 'I am currently working really hard on revision for my GCSE exams, and this will give me just what I need in order to boost my range of skills'

Ibrahim Ali was equally excited. 'The whole scheme looks superb', he enthused. 'Not only is it a fantastically worthwhile experience, it will also provide me with the chance to meet other people my own age and have fun after having worked so hard during my exams'

With a record number of applications from Year 11 students and a record number being accepted onto the course, we continue to work with the NCS to deliver the very best social experiences for our young people.
