At Sidney Stringer, we are committed to delivering high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance in line with the updated Gatsby Benchmarks (from September 2025) and the DfE’s statutory guidance. Careers guidance and access for education and training providers – GOV.UK
From Year 7 through Year 13, our programme is designed to:
- Embed careers across the institution — Careers is not just the responsibility of the Careers Lead; it is part of leadership strategy, whole-staff development, and curriculum planning. (Benchmark 1)
- Use data, labour market information, and student aspirations to inform planning, personalisation, monitoring and evaluation of provision. (Benchmark 2)
- Meet individual needs — Our CEIAG is tailored and differentiated, with specific support for pupils who are disadvantaged or have SEND, to ensure every student is able to benefit. (Benchmark 3)
- Connect curriculum learning to careers — We help pupils see the relevance of their subjects by linking learning to careers, skills and the world of work. (Benchmark 4)
- Provide meaningful encounters with employers and employees — Pupils engage in employer talks, mentorships, workplace visits and tasks, with time for preparation and reflection. (Benchmark 5)
- Offer sustained workplace experiences — Students in KS3 will have had multiple meaning experiences of a suitable, relevant workplace. By the age of 16 all pupils will take part in multiple, well-structured workplace experiences (not just short visits), and further experiences if applicable by age 18. (Benchmark 6)
- Ensure encounters with further and higher education providers — Pupils will meet and engage with a variety of post-16 providers (sixth form, colleges, universities, training providers), to understand the full range of pathways available.(Benchmark 7)
Provide personal guidance — Every pupil will have at least one one-to-one meeting by age 16, and further guidance by age 18, from a qualified careers adviser or accredited external provider. (Benchmark 8)
